LoCloud
Local Cultural Heritage in a Europeana Cloud
LoCloud aims to explore the potential of cloud computing technologies for Europeana and to harness its benefits, particularly for small and medium-sized cultural institutions.

LoCloud builds on the results of the EU projects EuropeanaLocal and CARARE. The aggregation services established by these projects for the European Digital Library (EUROPEANA) will be continued and expanded. Using cloud technologies, both efficient infrastructures (IaaS – Infrastructure as a Service) and new services (SaaS – Software as a Service) will be created.
Goals of LoCloud
• Data synchronization: local cultural data and Europeana
• Enrichment of existing data
• Development of microservices for cultural institutions
• Multilingual presentation of data
• Training and support services for small and medium-sized cultural institutions
• Development of strategies for the introduction of cloud services for cultural institutions
AIT is leading the project’s work package for the development and testing of cloud-based microservices (SaaS) for small and medium-sized cultural institutions. These services are intended to provide a new, efficient way to enrich existing cultural data and improve data quality.
