AIT Forschungsgesellschaft mbH is a partner in the Europeana DSI3 project and coordinates the aggregator activities for OpenUp! in cooperation with the Botanical Garden Berlin.
Europe’s natural history collections house a vast treasure trove of materials. These objects, many of which were collected during historical expeditions, often provide the last evidence of long-extinct species. The OpenUp! aggregator platform makes multimedia research objects (images, films, audio recordings, historical drawings) from the natural sciences accessible online.
Objectives/Tasks of OpenUp! in DSI3
• Data synchronization: natural history materials and Europeana (ABCD(EFG), DwC, LIDO)
• Enrichment of existing data
• Integration of numerous datasets and initial online accessibility
• Multilingual presentation of data
• Training for content partners
• Development of strategies for service sustainability
AIT carries out the technical integration of scientific data into the European Digital Library, Europeana.
