Europeana v1
With the “European Digital Library” initiative, the European Commission aims to make Europe’s cultural and scientific heritage (books, films, magazines, maps, photographs, music, museum objects, etc.) accessible online for everyone. Following the presentation of the first EUROPEANA prototype in November 2008, it is now being further developed technically and a future business model is being designed.

• Establish a network of cultural and scientific content providers in Europe
• Launch of operational EUROPEANA services
• Promotion of EUROPEANA services
• Draft organizational structure for the continued operation of EUROPEANA
• Draft financing model for EUROPEANA
